Ohana

13 May

-Inu’s birthday party, JW Marriott, 12 May 2012-

“Ohana means family. Family means, nobody gets left behind. Or forgotten.”

-Lilo & Stitch-

And for that, I love you, kesayangans :‘)

Every 19th of March

18 Mar

We used to have a family dinner in a restaurant when we were kids.

When we got bigger it then altered to a simple yet nice a family dinner at home.

And now that we’re three adults, we’re having your birthday over a phonecall, separated by miles and 15 months away of not seeing you.

But still…

Happy 61st birthday, Dad.

I miss you.

I love you.

And despite everything, still I wish I could give you the world.

Hope to see you home soon.

Brother & Sister 2.0

17 Mar

As now each part of my core family lives by themselves, us kids in Jakarta, mom in Kalimantan, and Dad in Flores, cellphone really comes in handy in keeping our communication flow. Especially for my bro and sis. Well, just like kids nowadays we use internet. We remain living in the same city but in 3 different areas. My brother went to boarding school in a university in Cikarang, my sister lives at our house in Bekasi, and I rent a room in Benhil  for almost a year now. We rarely meet.  But the  way I see it,  even if it looks sorta like “LDR” thingie, our bond became even more stronger now that we are far away from each other. We had gone through heaven and hell together, we grew up together, and we watched each other evolved.

I guess that’s the thing about family.  No matter how far you go,  no matter how distant you’ve become, it will always be the place where you can come home to, anytime.

Now excuse me I’m gonna continue this in Bahasa Indonesia.

I giggled when I read over the convo again.

Kalo gue inget-inget lagi…

KENAPA HARUS JANJIKUUUUUU?

KENAPAAAAAAAAAAA?

*ngakak ampe uzur*

Oh well, this funny thing called life.

Dear brother and sister, no matter how hard and long this storm is, always remember that there’ll be sunshine in the end. And we’re all gonna be JUST FINE.

Love you, Joseph and Josepha :)
